CNY Band Returns Home

Travis McCoy, Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo, Matt McGinley, and Eric Roberts—the Gym Class Heroes—started their band in 1997 when they were high school students in Geneva. Tonight, they will be coming back to Central New York to perform at Syracuse University.

The group, known for their hip-hop songs like “Cupid’s Chokehold,” are at the University to kick off homecoming weekend. Currently on tour with Fall Out Boy and Plain White T’s, it seems the group has come a long way since their high school days.

The band’s first hit, “Cupid’s Chokehold,” made #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the group won an MTV Video Music Award in 2007 for Best New Artist. Their current tour, “The Young Wild Things Tour,” is to promote their latest CD, “As Cruel as School Children.”

Besides tonight’s free local performance, the Gym Class Heroes will be back in the area on November 18, when they will be playing in Rochester. For more information about the group, tour dates, and more, check out the group’s official website and their official MySpace page.

Your story really gets to the point quickly and concisely. One of the best aspects of your story is that there was a direct link to the exact information I would have wanted to know from every hyperlink. Also, I did not know Gym Class Heroes are from Geneva. I also really enjoyed your story because it was fast-paced and fun to read. It kept my attention! Good job!
